| Realtors Search for Solutions to Dwindling Water Supplies
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Realtors build communities, and managing, developing and protecting our nation's water resources is key to supporting the current pattern of economic growth and development which supports those communities. For regions like Las Vegas, which is hosting the 2007 REALTORS Conference & Expo this week, water, or the lack thereof, is of particular concern. The western United States, which is one of the fastest growing regions and also one of the driest, appears to be the most challenged by water shortages. "As the leading advocate for private property rights, homeownership and housing issues, NAR supports land use and environmental regulations that help manage growth smartly to sustain water resources and also meet the growing needs of local businesses and residents," said National Association of Realtors President Pat V.
2 editors' online journal gives new life to literature
The Wiegers hire is the equivalent of the Giants signing Barry Zito. The publication also includes original nonfiction, classic reprints, place-oriented tales called Readers Narratives and a First and Second Looks section of excerpted novels, stories and nonfiction. A symbiotic life Like many couples who have been married for 20 years, Edgarian and Jenks finish each other's sentences and even sometimes speak in unison. But their work relationship is even more symbiotic. Not only do they edit the magazine together, they tend to edit manuscripts in tandem, formulating what Jenks calls the "ideal version of the work." Having two editors is most writers' version of hell, but those who work with Jenks and Edgarian seem to be grateful for the critical double-blast.

Mosso's utility hosting turns Impressionistic
As web-based, on-demand computing continues to grow in popularity, there will be plenty of twisting and turning as companies feel the market out. Pricing, of course, is at the top of the service provider's minds — and we're bound to see a fair share of alternative cost models. .
Stop Press: Google News Edges Past Yahoo News in UK
Stop the presses! This important bulletin just handed to me... According to the latest data from comScore World Metrix, Google News UK has edged past Yahoo News UK & Ireland in total unique visitors for December 2007. Film at 11. Okay, okay, so this upset victory in the British Isles seems to be a long shot for today's top story. But in 1972, Edward Lorenz shocked the 139th meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science with a talk entitled, "Does the flap of a butterfly's wings in Brazil set off a tornado in Texas?" So, can small variations in the UK news search engine market produce large variations in the long term behavior of the worldwide search engine market? Now that Yahoo has formally rejected Microsoft's unsolicited bid to acquire the company for approximately $44.6 billion, who knows? What I can report are the details of the stunning upset of the front-runner, Yahoo News UK & Ireland, by the underdog, Google News UK.

Heathrow campaigners stage protest on Parliament roof
The message should go out today very clearly that decisions in this country should be made in the chamber of this House and not on the roof of this House."It is a very important message that should be sent out to those people who are protesting."One of the roof protesters, Richard George, 27, from London, said: "I am stood on the roof of Parliament because the democratic process had been corrupted."The aviation industry had taken full advantage of a weak Prime Minister to get the Heathrow consultation fixed."It does not even consider global warming despite everything Brown has said about the environment and despite the massive impact aviation has on the climate."The Prime Minister does not even have the courage to ask Londoners the simple question: 'Do you want a third runway?'. Instead, his Government published a consultation document full of gobbledegook and industry spin."Mr George added: "We decided to let Gordon Brown get on with Prime Minister's Questions, but we just wanted him to know what it is like to have an inconvenience above your head that you did not ask for."They made paper aeroplanes out of confidential Whitehall documents they claimed showed the consultation process was "fixed", and glided the planes into the MPs' car park below. The campaign group claimed that the documents – obtained under the Freedom of Information Act – proved that BAA wrote parts of the consultation document and that the Government had already decided to build a third runway and a sixth terminal at the world's biggest international airport.Mr George added: "Now the consultation is over, we can safely ignore the fixed result and get on with the job of stopping this new runway being built."A huge coalition of local residents, Londoners and environmentalists is coming together, supported by all the major mayoral candidates, to stand against Gordon Brown and say 'no more'."Plane Stupid said BAA and the Government wanted a sixth terminal and third runway built over homes, schools and churches in the villages of Sipson and Harmondsworth."This would increase the number of flights from 480,000 a year to at least 702,000."Two million Londoners face increased levels of noise, while CO2 emissions from the airport would shoot up despite claims by Brown that he's committed to fighting climate change," a spokesman said. The protesters said they branded Parliament "BAA HQ" because of the "extraordinary level of collusion" between the aviation industry and government.Matthew Knowles, spokesman for the Society of British Aerospace Companies, said: "These stunts are becoming tiresome and do nothing more than peddle inaccurate propaganda."The aviation industry has ach .
NASA Views Landing Site Through Eyes of Future Moon Crew
NASA has obtained the highest resolution terrain mapping to date of the moon's rugged south polar region, with a resolution to 20 meters per pixel. Scientists at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., collected the data using the facility's Goldstone Solar System Radar located in California's Mojave Desert. The imagery generated by the data has been incorporated into animation depicting the descent to the lunar surface of a future human lunar lander and a flyover of Shackleton Crater. The mapping data collected indicate that the region of the moon's south pole near Shackleton Crater is much more rugged than previously understood. The Shackleton rim area is considered a candidate landing site for a future human mission to the moon. "The south pole of the moon certainly would be a beautiful place to explore," said Doug Cooke, deputy associate administrator for the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters, Washington.
