You're bombarded with images saying look at Posh's new bag, look at what Coleen's wearing, and you think: why can't I have that?' she says. Hall would scour the high street like a woman possessed buying blouses, skirts and jackets - sometimes in duplicate - from favourite stores such as Jaeger and Hobbs. Her passion ran to designer accessories with a handbag collection in double figures, including six prized Mulberry totes. Then there were designer shoes. She wistfully describes a £300 pair of embroidered black velvet Ginas she has still never worn. 'They are beautiful, but the special occasion has just never come along - also they are size 4½ and I'm a 5,' she adds - a mistake many shoppers have made in the heady moment of securing a sale 'bargain'. Adam Smith called Britain a 'nation of shopkeepers', but over the past decade the country has turned into a nation of shoppers, high on cheap credit and booming house prices.

Live Music: The Growers, Savage Henry entertain at Wild Buffalo
On Friday night, local band The Growers played the its CD release show at the Wild Buffalo. With Savage Henry opening the show, The Growers played three separate sets, which was awesome. In between sets, a guy dressed in a tight white sailor outfit gave out raffle prizes, including special brownies and the chance to shave off one of his eyebrows on stage. It was pretty entertaining. But all three of the Growers sets were solid and the crowd seemed to get more and more into the music, with people dancing and moving around. The jam funk fusion band was perfect for the Bellingham crowd. Check out more on the Growers at www.myspace.com/thegrowers. Everyday Music is hosting free, weekly in-store performances on Sunday nights. Last Sunday, local band The Braille Tapes played. The band released a new EP on cassette tape only, titled Uncle BT.

As I said, it is differentbut we will have advertising campaigns, TV commercials, people talking on TV to explain our program. We will use modern methods for campaign. I do not want to call them western, they are international [methods]. Do you think the National Front for Change represents a real threat to the NDP in the parliamentary race?This is an internal issue for opposition parties whether to run individually or form a coalition. It is up to them. This is not going to affect or change any of our plans. As I said we are taking these elections seriously and we are going to work very hard to win every seat. I do not really have to comment on what they [opposition parties] are doing. I will be happy to see more opposition members in the parliament and I will be happier to see the NDP maintaining a majority in parliament.

Austin-area volunteers for Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton are doing far more than the typical telephoning of voters at dinner time. Although phone banks in their Texas campaign headquarters buzz morning till night, such calling is supplemented by unusual electronic outreach, a mix of e-mail and personalized social networking via MeetUp groups and Web sites. Also, the campaigns are coaching thousands of people to hand out information at the polls Tuesday and to participate in primary-night caucuses. .
