Cyclone Jokwe lashed Mozambique Island before hitting the northern coastal province of Nampula, traveling with winds of up to 130 kilometres per hour, Radio Mozambique said. No casualties have been reported and the extent of the damage is not yet known. The government declared a red alert, the highest level, in Nampula and a lesser, yellow, alert in the central provinces amid fears the storm will cause more damage. Cyclone Jokwe is moving in a southwesterly direction toward the inland districts of Nampula and is expected to hit the central province of Zambezia on Monday, bringing with it moderate rain. The cyclone brushed the northern tip of Madagascar on Wednesday before crossing the Mozambique Channel. Flooding - the worst since 2001 when 800 people died - is slowly subsiding in many parts of northern and central Mozambique.

Media player and format licensing outfit DivX has announced it will close down Stage6.com, its effort at a YouTube-style user-generated video site featuring cats playing piano, dogs on skateboards and mid-Western teenagers miming to Linkin Park. The firm said it plans to cut the power on 28 February. .
Youth helpline provides counselling to Canadian Muslims
Mississauga, Ont. - A new helpline may be able to ease some of the difficulties Muslim youth are faced with in Canada. 1-800-naseeha is a toll-free number that these youth can dial to reach people who will provide confidential counselling. The helpline is based in Mississisauga and is one of its kind in the country. Even though the service is aimed to Canadian youth, the counsellors have received some calls from the U.S. Naseeha co-founder, Yassen Poonah, told Omni Telvision that people answering the phones are all Muslims born in Canada who had to overcome their own obstacles. Counsellors are available weeknights from 6-9 p.m. and speak various South Asian languages. The service hopes to expand and become a 24-hour operation.
